Making the switch to non-toxic cleaning products can feel daunting. Don’t worry, you’re not alone! I am sharing the three things that delayed me from switching to non-toxic cleaning products sooner. And what products we use now and love!
- I was always buying cleaning products in bulk from Costco which meant I always had tons on hand.
- Making the switch to non-toxic can be expensive and I wasn’t sure I was ready to commit.
- We lived in an old 1950s home next to an old machine shop and part of me accepted that there was probably much worse in and around that home than my toxic cleaning products
When we moved to a new home back in October, I decided I was finally ready to make the switch. I used the last of my stockpile to clean the old house as we moved out and I started fresh with some of the best items I could find. For me a new house felt like a new start.
The first things I bought was from Blueland. I was obsessed with their adorable tin storage containers and their plastic free packaging. Not to mention a majority of their products are EWG certified and fragrance free. We use their dishwasher, laundry and toilet pods. I often buy from their site directly or I snag them from Thrive Market while they are on sale! On occasion, you can find their items at Costco as well!
The next thing I bought was from Branch Basics. I absolutely loved that their concentrate is EWG certified and could be used to make so many different things. I purchased the Cleaning Essentials Kit in glass which comes with the containers for their all-purpose, streak free and bathroom sprays. I then purchased their Oxygen boost as well as the glass Laundry Bottle. I opted not to purchase their hand soap bottles but instead purchased some from my local Recology store but use the Branch Basics concentrate to make our hand soap. They have a ton of helpful ratios listed here.
